Michael is the founder of RockyMountainTrustPlans.com. and also the founder of two private law practices in Colorado Springs, CO and Knoxville, TN. Michael focused his practice in the areas of Estate Planning, Business Planning and Charitable Planning. He has helped hundreds of clients form their business or plan their estate.
Mr. Smith holds a B.S. in Business Management from Carson-Newman University, an M.S. in Sport Management from The University of Tennessee, and a J.D. from Liberty University School of Law. Mr. Smith served as the Student Bar Association President while attending Liberty University School of Law.
Additionally, while a law student, Mr. Smith served in the White House as an intern in the Presidential Personnel Office. While at the White House, Mr. Smith assisted in an office responsible for recruiting executives to serve the President in the U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. Department of the Treasury, and the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Michael lives in Colorado Springs with his wife of 18 years and their four boys. He attends International Anglican Church in Colorado Springs. He is also the Vice Chairman of the Board at Colorado Springs Christian Schools. In his free time, he can be found coaching his kid’s sports teams, fly-fishing, snowboarding, hiking, and camping with his family in the Rocky Mountains.

Ryan was born and raised in Aztec, New Mexico and is a third-generation “Aztecian.” After graduating with honors from Aztec High School, Ryan obtained a degree in mathematics at a private Christian college in the midwest. In 2007, Ryan graduated Cum Laude from Liberty University School of Law in Lynchburg, Virginia, where Ryan also served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Liberty University Law Review. After graduating, Ryan spent the next three years as a law clerk to the Hon. John C. Gemmill of the Arizona Court of Appeals as well as to the Hon. James A. Teilborg of the United States District Court for the District of Arizona.
Knowing that he is truly a “small town kid at heart,” Ryan chose to return to the Four Corners area in 2010 in order to enter private practice where he serves clients in both New Mexico and Colorado.
Ryan is licensed to practice law in New Mexico, Colorado, the Navajo Nation, and the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico.
Ryan is happily married to his wife of 18 years and has two wonderful sons. Ryan is an active member of Calvary Chapel of Farmington and he serves on the school board for the Aztec Municipal School District, the board for the Matthew Bardwell Memorial Scholarship Fund, and the board for the Aztec Museum.
